Emily Hough of Crisis Response

Profile of IDER Committee Member - Emily Hough, Founder and Editor, Crisis Response Journal

Emily Hough is founder and editor of Crisis Response Journal, the international publication focusing on large scale disasters, emergencies, fires and terrorist attacks. This publication provides a much-needed professional global platform to exchange news and experiences of major incidents - as well as bringing fresh perspectives from other agencies involved in emergency response. It is read by the world's emergency responders, planners and disaster academics.
Emily's publishing experience spans 16 years – 12 of which have been spent working on international fire and disaster response journals, yearbooks, directories, exhibitions and conferences. Emily has also produced highly successful regional editions of fire, civil defence and emergency journals in Spanish, Chinese, Thai and Arabic.
She has built up a vast bank of international knowledge and experience, and an unrivalled contacts list, thanks to her extensive writing on emergency issues around the world. She has visited and written about fire and civil defence issues from Europe to China, North America to the Middle East and many areas of South America – including reporting from conflict-prone areas and war zones.
